First off, welcome!

The world of Facebook, Twitter, Blogging (in whatever flavor you choose), is an open invitation to participate in the digital networks that have been created. You can simply be a surveyor on the sidelines, following your favorite news sources, or, for the adventurous and influential you can curate your own content and start your own following!

It's an expansive social world out there, and while I'm by no means an expert, I figured I could point you in the right direction and offer some tips and tools of the trade.

Here in Part 1 (of 5) we'll discuss Klout.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 130px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rz9ty_-oWLM/TxXuu-KgNGI/AAAAAAAAADs/nDnzyezRCPo/s320/klout.GIF" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5698723394235675746" />

What is Klout? Why is it important for my social media journey?

Klout measures your online influence.

Klout gathers data from your assortment of social media profiles and gives your an interactive dashboard to process that information and understand where you fit in your social networks.

It allows you to track your "presence".

By informing you whom you influence, who influences you, what topics you generally speak about, Klout can lay indicators of your social progress. Whether it be through sheer influence or by understanding your topic concentration, Klout shows you both.

I'll talk about URL Shortening in Part 2 of the Getting Started with Social Media series.

A hui hou,

Glenn

Portfolio Online!

Hello out there strangers on the internet. In the loss, three Wildcats scored in double figures led by Momo Jones’ 20 points. Veiled behind his 20 points, however, was Jones’ 1:5 assist-to-turnover ratio as he led the Wildcats in a sloppy affair where they turned the ball over 19 times against Oregon State’s 1-3-1 zone defense.

The impact player from the game had to be Jared Cunningham. Cunningham came away with 17 points, including a thunderous put-back slam that seemed to tilt the momentum in the Beavers favor in the lingering minutes. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iX_yAi_M1Y8) Cunningham was no slouch on the defensive end of the court either, scooping up 5 steals from the bottom of the 1-3-1 zone.

When the Wildcats have the ball:

Last time these teams met, Jesse Perry totaled 5 points and 2 rebounds in 24 minutes. If the Beavers stick to the 1-3-1, which is difficult to rebound from, Perry can greatly increase the Wildcats odds by crashing the offensive boards and creating second chance opportunities. Additionally, look for Jones and backup PG Jordin Mayes to control the tempo of the game and attempt to beat the Beavers zone by creating fast break opportunities. Once into the offense, the two point guards need to get their teammates involved, keep the zone moving, and protect the pumpkin.

When the Beavers have the ball:

The Wildcats will need to protect the lane and stuff the penetration of the Beavers’ guard tandem in Calvin Haynes and Jared Cunningham. Haynes and Cunningham accounted for nearly half the Beavers’ point-total last meeting, scoring 18 and 17 respectively. Oregon State’s chances will be helped greatly if they can get a repeat performance from F Omari Johnson who had 10 points and 8 rebounds in the weekend’s loss to California. The Beavers will have their hands full with Arizona F Derrick Williams and will have to throw some fouls his way as seemingly the Pac-10 officiating crews have let the “most protected dude since Jordan” comments get to their heads.

What to expect:

Surely, Coach Miller will not be the most pleasant character in this week’s practices after his Wildcats lost two in a row and placed a significant dent in their Pac-10 Championship hopes. One has to be equally confident that Miller will have the Wildcats prepared for this year’s final set of games at home in front of the ZonaZoo and the Tucson faithful. The Wildcats will come out hungry, although the fans won’t leave that way, because they will pick up their free tacos as the Wildcats feast upon Oregon State en route to a 82-68 victory.

Arizona v. UCLA - First Half Instant Analysis

Despite the Arizona faithful being tortured yet again by inferior basketball games (no offense to Amphi-Tempe in the 4A-II championship nor Sacramento State-NAU in Big Sky Women's play) we tune in with 15:00 left to play and a tie game at 6-6.

Josh Smith quickly collected two personal fouls allowing Derrick Williams the opportune matchup against Anthony Stover. Williams capitalizes and picks up six straight for the Wildcats before taking a breather.

How can anyone deny that Derrick Williams is the best player in the nation? In multiple possessions Williams crossed over his defender from the perimeter, took contact in the paint and finished with a lefty off the glass over multiple defenders.

Derrick Williams is 1 of 2 from three point land and comes 5 attempts closer to leading the nation in 3PT%. (A player requires 50 or more attempts to be considered for the 3PT% category.)

With Williams on the bench, Sean miller implements a puzzling lineup. I don't criticize the rotations often, but a lineup of Lavender, Fogg, Parrom, Horne and Natyahzko leaves a lot to be desired. This lineup puts the Wildcats in a 3 on 5 situation on offense (let's be honest Horne and Natyahzko don't offer much on that end of the floor) and thin in the frontcourt on Defense.

Reeves Nelson is dominating the 'Cats inside for 16 points with "Raging Bull" moves according to the FSN announcing crew. Nelson's offense is leaving Coach Miller no option but to leave a man on him, widening the floor attributing to the lack of help defense. Honeycutt and Josh Smith immediately benefit from the open paint adding 17 points of their own.

It's often been said that as Momo Jones goes, so do the Wildcats. Momo has forced too many contested shots, turned the ball over, and generally has not got his teammates involved. It's not far fetched to see direct causation from Jones' poor play to the Wildcats trailing by 10 at half.

For the Wildcats to come away with a W in the final game at Pauley they'll need to continue force feeding Williams and they'll need more from Momo.

Visit me back here at glennmusa.blogspot.com or follow on Twitter @glennmusa for more instant feedback!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://glennmusa.blogspot.com/2011/02/arizona-v-ucla-first-half-instant.html' title='Arizona v. My mission as Brand Representative is to represent the student body by producing apparel and merchandise that matches their tastes, reflects the image of the university, and embodies the school spirit emphasized by the ZonaZoo.

I've done the task of digitally reproducing all past ZonaZoo shirts here:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/9034536@N07/sets/72157623179646658/

Also, I have posted my design work done as Brand Representative here:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/9034536@N07/sets/72157623055188305/

I hope you enjoy, and if you have any special requests or would like to ask additional questions please do not hesitate to shoot me an e-mail! You can find it to the right of this post, under "My Resume," or with the direct link here.

Again! This is only a test.

A bit about myself: I'm an avid sports fan, and I'm a media junkie. Naturally, sports television programming is my safe haven, and I do enjoy to partake in my fair share of "spectating." (See: hanging out with the boys and catching a game or two!) In conjunction with the actual athletic event, the programs on sports networks allow me to catch my favorite media outlet: advertisements. Not only do I love advertisements, I love sports, and candidly the networks promote sports advertising! A particular company that wows and interests me, is the Nike corporation. Their innovative advertisements, commercials and branding techniques inspire me to one day join the field of athletic apparel.

Also, I have some history of graphic design and freelance, non-profit works, so if you need something made (wallpapers and the like,) or a photo that may need retouching let me know via an e-mail or comment and I'd gladly help you out time permitting.

If you're interested in checking out additional works click, "My Portfolio" at the right or stop on by my DeviantArt page at this link here.

Oh, and a quick note: my resume is a Word document, so you must have at the very least Microsoft Word Viewer.
